RENOWNED VOCAL THEATRE TROUPE
Carmina Slovenica led by artistic director Karmina Šilec has a unique choregie (vocal theatre) approach that employs the adventurous juxtaposition of music with fascinating vocal techniques, and theatre elements.
Well-known for precise vocal discipline, exuberant physicality and musical imagination, Carmina Slovenica explores works from the forefronts of the contemporary music scene.
This choir has received more than 100 awards and recognitions both at home and abroad, including the prestigious theatre award Golden Mask, the Prešern Found Award, Ford Award for preservation of natural and cultural heritage and first place at the International Competition Kalundborg in Denmark.
The New York Times billed Carmina Slovenica as “vibrantly theatrical, genre-blurring, unusual in its techniques, eclectic in its musical style and politically charged”, saying that “Ms. Šilec is savvy about maintaining dramatic momentum, and the performers execute every shift in tone with subtlety and agility.”
Having set trends in the vocal theatre world, this ensemble is excited to present its progressive and innovative programme at WSCM2020.
