12th World Symposium on Choral Music

Donations and support

As the choral world prepares to land on our doorstep, we need your help!

Winning the hosting rights to WSCM2020 is a major coup for New Zealand music. By far the largest and finest choral event ever to touch down in Aotearoa, and unlikely ever to return.

In a nutshell, WSCM2020 will deliver:

  • 24 leading choirs and two headline acts
  • 50 high-level practitioners, giving over 100 presentations
  • 36 concerts, including three key NZ events
  • Surround Sounds’ fringe festival, featuring another seven international and seven top NZ choirs
  • Kapa haka and Pasifika music
  • Over 1,500 delegates
  • 1,200 singers
  • 5000+ concert attendees
  • A huge music trade expo

WSCM2020 will lift our choral scene to even greater levels, while helping still more of our young solo singers to achieve their dreams. But don't take our word for it...read testimonials by some of our best choral music exports, here!

Why we need your help
The cost of running this event is NZ$2.5 million. New Zealand Major Events and Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development have acknowledged the value of WSCM2020 with generous contributions, and Creative New Zealand, Auckland Live, Tourism New Zealand and Foundation North have also become valued partners. However, we are still $250,000 short of the total we need to deliver a truly stunning and memorable Symposium, and are asking for your help.

How you can help
While you are warmly invited to donate any sum you wish, we have five tiered options, each with its own benefits and level of acknowledgment. We would be immensely grateful for your contribution. Symposium 2020 Ltd (the operating company of WSCM2020, and wholly owned by the New Zealand Choral Federation) is a charitable trust. Donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged with a receipt.
