Founded in 1990 by its director José Galván Castañeda, Voz en Punto is a Mexican vocal group with international recognition. The ensemble has a unique musical approach that celebrates Mexico’s rich musical heritage through voice.

Voz en Punto’s performances focus on fully embracing and enriching Mexico’s musical culture and the group feel just at home performing in a concert hall as in a public square, almost always singing a cappella. The choir’s repertoire includes popular, early, and contemporary music.

Within Mexico, the group has performed in the country’s principal concert venues and in its most outstanding festivals. Internationally, Voz en Punto has had an outstanding presence at

ACDA National Conference in Minneapolis, the China International Folk Arts Festival, the World Symposium on Choral Music in Korea, the Cultural Festival within the Athens Olympics in 2004, the Summer Festival at Wolfsburg Castle in Germany, the International Festival of Choral Singing in France, the Mayan World Expo in Tampere and many more.

The ensemble has received recognition at international festivals and awards, and has been invited to with exemplary vocalists such as Bobby McFerrin and The King’s Singers, as well as notable orchestras including the Mercury Baroque Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, and the Dresden Symphony.

2020 marks the 30th anniversary of the ensemble and its members are delighted to celebrate this milestone at the Symposium with their first ever appearance in Oceania.
