Zürich Singing Academy

OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL CHAMBER CHOIR

Country: Switzerland
Conductor: Florian Helgath
Voicing: SATB

Founded in 2011 and currently under the artistic direction of Florian Helgath, Zürich Singing Academy is distinguishable by its exquisite sound and musicality as well as its versatility and flexibility. The professional choir works both as a chamber choir and as a symphonic choir.

The ensemble regularly performs a cappella programmes and concert projects with small instrumental ensembles. One of the main focuses for the choir is showcasing works by Swiss composers.

Concert tours have taken Zürich Singing Academy to Europe, Israel, Lebanon, Taiwan and China where it received praise for its musical intensity from audiences, guest-conductors and critics.

Since its founding, the choir has worked with many of the world's top international star conductors such as Bernard Haitink, David Zinman, Daniel Barenboim, Lionel Bringuier, Sir Roger Norrington, Pablo Heras-Casado, Neeme Järvi, Charles Dutoit, Giovanni Antonini and René Jacobs.

“There is a great ensemble quality about this choir, which is so fully dedicated to making beautiful music together.” René Jacobs (Belgian musician)

Zürich Singing Academy is delighted to be featuring at WSCM2020 and is particularly eager to explore Aotearoa, make new connections with choral experts from around the world, and reunite with old friends from Kammerchor Stuttgart and Ensemble Vocapella Limburg.
